In 1983, my husband, 3 years old, and 6 weeks old had just moved to Green Bay WI, where we would only live for 16 months. ​

Right after we moved in, our neighbor stopped by with her 3-year-old to play with her 3-year-old. ​ She said to me, “here are some Shaklee products, if you want to try this that’s great. ​ And if you don’t feel better I’ll give you your money back.”

It was Shaklee’s multivitamin. ​ I thought ‘hey what a great option!’ I tried the Vita-Lea multivitamin, felt better quickly, and began using more products to get my body working better. ​ I learned and started eating healthier.

Nine months later, and now living in Minneapolis, MN, now 900 miles from home, I am healthier and walking an hour a day. ​ I began exercising at the local YMCA and working with resistance weight training. ​ Life is good.

Fast forward to the fall of 1991, someone asked me if I’d ever thought of Shaklee as a part-time business. ​ No, I hadn’t been told that. ​ So I learned about this amazing opportunity. ​ You see, I had chosen to be a stay-at-home mom and was looking casually for an at-home opportunity. ​ I began just simply by sharing the Shaklee products with my neighbors and friends. ​ I was “working” with Shaklee only 5-7 hours a week. ​ One year later I am facing being a single parent and now my at-home business was even more crucial. ​ I kept working part-time and taking care of my children. ​ In the first year, I became a Sales Leader, earned my first company car, and earned my first Sales Leader trip to San Francisco. ​ This was so much fun. ​ I was just helping people and with my working efforts, I earned a Shaklee bonus. ​ It wasn’t about profit, it was coming from Shaklee directly. ​ I didn’t have a desire to profit from those I loved and cared about. ​ I appreciated that Shaklee didn’t like that either.
